How can the service life of the core components of the laminar flow hood be extended?

Extend the service life of core components of laminar flow hoods. Complete practical methods.
(For fans, HEPA filters, primary/middle efficiency filters, electrical control, cabinet, seals, etc., each item is a direct implementation method in the workshop)
1. Extend the lifespan of the fan (target: use for 10–12 years or more)
Do not operate at full load and full speed for a long time
Operate at medium-low speed daily, do not keep at the highest speed all year round to reduce bearing wear and motor overheating.
Replace the pre-filter on time
If the primary and middle efficiency filters are clogged, the negative pressure of the fan will increase and the load will soar, which is very likely to burn the motor and damage the bearings.
Clean the fan blades regularly
Clean the accumulated dust once every six months by cutting off power and avoiding imbalance, vibration and abnormal noise of the blades, and accelerating the damage of the bearings.
Avoid frequent start-stop
Do not repeatedly switch on and off for a short period of time. Frequent start-stop is the most harmful to the motor coil; intermittent use should be set with constant operation.
Implement shock absorption and horizontal installation
Install shock-absorbing pads and adjust the level of the machine body to reduce resonance and wear on the bearings.
2. Extend the lifespan of HEPA high-efficiency filters (target: use from 1.5 years to 2.5–3 years)
Treat the front-end primary and middle efficiency filters as “life-saving shields”
Replace the primary efficiency filters every 3–6 months, and the middle efficiency filters every 1 year. The more frequently the front-end is replaced, the more durable the HEPA filter will be.
Clean the workshop first before opening the laminar flow hood
Clean the dust before the ceiling installation, material handling, etc., and wait for half an hour before opening the laminar flow hood to avoid large particles directly entering the high-efficiency filter.
Do not cover the return and outlet surfaces with materials
Do not pile materials to block the airflow, which will cause a sudden increase in local resistance and premature clogging of the filter.
Do not blow strong wind directly at the air outlet
The wind shower at the entrance, the air outlet of the air conditioner, and direct blowing at the working surface of the laminar flow hood will disrupt the airflow and accelerate the accumulation of dust on the filter material.
Replace according to pressure difference/fan speed, do not blindly extend the service life beyond the expiration date.
If the pressure difference significantly increases and the fan speed decreases, replace it promptly; otherwise, it will cause reverse damage to the fan.
3. Extend the lifespan of primary and middle efficiency filters
Keep the doors and windows of the workshop closed to reduce the invasion of external dust particles
Clean the surface dust of the primary efficiency filter weekly, which can extend the usage period by 1–2 months appropriately
In humid environments, prevent the filter material from getting moldy; keep the air circulation at a low speed during the rainy season
4. Extend the lifespan of electrical control, control panel, and speed regulator
Keep the distribution box and control box dry and dust-free, blow dust once a month to prevent the circuit board from getting damp and short-circuiting
Avoid unstable voltage; for frequent power outages and voltage fluctuations in the workshop, it is recommended to install a stabilizing socket
Do not frequently press the switch when not in use to reduce the wear of the button contacts
Do not directly spray water vapor or disinfectant mist onto the electrical control panel during operation, avoid the electrical parts during disinfection
5. Extend the lifespan of the cabinet and frame
304 stainless steel: Do not directly scrub with strong acids and alkalis, use a neutral cleaning agent
Spray plastic / cold-rolled plate models: Avoid long-term high humidity and condensation water to prevent rust and paint peeling
Avoid hard impact and heavy pressure deformation, as deformation of the cabinet will cause air leakage and airflow disorder
6. Extend the lifespan of sealing strips and shock-absorbing pads
Avoid frequent soaking of the sealing strips in disinfectant and alcohol, which will accelerate aging and hardening
Check once a year, replace promptly if the strips become hard, cracked, or leaky, do not wait until they fail before replacing
Keep the installation surface clean and dust-free, make a tighter fit, and reduce aging and deformation
7. Daily operation and maintenance simple mnemonic (for easy memorization)
Replace the primary and middle efficiency filters frequently to protect the high-efficiency filter, do not run the fan at full load;
Less start-stop, less direct blowing, clean before opening the equipment;
Prevent moisture and dust in the electrical control box, clean the cabinet regularly to avoid moisture and strong acids;
Avoid direct spraying of water vapor or disinfectant mist onto the electrical control panel during operation, avoid the electrical parts during disinfection
The above are the complete practical methods to extend the service life of laminar flow hoods.
