What are the options for the main structure material of the clean room?

The selection of the main structure material for the clean room is centered around achieving a balance among cleanliness, load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, cost, and ease of installation. The mainstream frameworks include aluminum profiles, stainless steel square tubes, and powder-coated iron square tubes. The enclosures commonly use anti-static PVC curtains, acrylic/PC panels, tempered glass, and color steel plates.
1. Frame Material (Core Load-bearing Structure)
1. Aluminum Profiles (Most Commonly Used)
Applicable scenarios: Medium-low cleanliness (ISO 7–8 levels), small and medium-sized, temporary / mobile clean rooms, general areas of electronics / semiconductors. Advantages:
Lightweight, quick installation, can be assembled by one person, no heavy equipment required.
Surface is anodized, smooth, dust-free, easy to clean, and not prone to dust accumulation.
Modular, reusable for disassembly, highly expandable.
Disadvantages:
Limited load-bearing capacity, not suitable for hanging heavy FFU / equipment.
Weak impact resistance, prone to oxidation and discoloration in humid / acid-base environments over long-term use.
Selection tips: Prefer 40×40/40×80 industrial purification aluminum profiles, with anodized surface and anti-static treatment.
2. Stainless steel square tubes (304/316, preferred for high-end applications)
Application scenarios: High cleanliness (ISO 5–6 levels), pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical / GMP, food, humid / acid-base corrosive environments. Advantages:
304 Resistant to daily moisture and weak acid; 316 Resistant to strong corrosion, does not rust even after long-term use.
The surface has no pores or dead corners, easy to disinfect, meeting GMP cleanliness requirements.
The load-bearing capacity and stability are superior to aluminum materials, with a longer lifespan.
Disadvantages:
The cost is 30% – 50% higher than that of aluminum materials.
It is heavy, requires hoisting, and the construction period is long.
It is prone to fingerprint marks, requiring special cleaning agents for maintenance.
Selection points: 304 for pharmaceuticals / food use; 316 for strong corrosive environments; polished or brushed surface to avoid dust accumulation in welds.
3. Powder-coated iron square tubes (Economical type)
Applicable scenarios: Low cleanliness, temporary projects, limited budget, non-corrosive environments. Advantages:
The lowest cost, strong load-bearing capacity, and capable of hanging heavy equipment.
The spray-painted color can be selected, matching the workshop style.
Disadvantages:
The coating is prone to rust and dust production, affecting the cleanliness.
Poor corrosion resistance, prohibited in humid / acidic / alkaline environments.
Selection points: Choose cold-rolled steel square tubes + epoxy powder electrostatic spraying, with a thickness of ≥ 1.2mm to ensure coating adhesion.
II. Enclosure material (sides / top sealing)
1. Anti-static PVC soft curtain (most commonly used)
Applicable: side enclosure, passage, observation port, quick disassembly scenarios.
Advantages: Transparent, anti-static, easy to clean, low cost, fast installation.
Selection: 0.3mm mesh anti-static PVC, resistant to aging, not prone to deformation.
2. Acrylic / PC plate (hard transparent)
Applicable: required high visibility, impact resistance, fixed enclosure area.
Advantages: High transparency, impact resistance, easy cleaning, can be used as fixed partitions.
Selection: Anti-static acrylic / PC plate, thickness 5–8mm, edge sealed treatment.
3. Tempered glass (high cleanliness / sterile)
Applicable: pharmaceutical / biological, sterile operation area, high sealing requirements.
Advantages: Good sealing, easy disinfection, no dust production, durable.
Selection: 5–8mm tempered glass, equipped with special clean sealing rubber strips.
4. Mechanized color steel plate (hard wall-style clean shelter)
Applicable: long-term fixed, high cleanliness, large area, GMP scenarios.
Advantages: Flat and seamless, easy to clean, stable structure, capable of hanging equipment.
Selection: 50mm thick rock wool / magnesium composite color steel plate, surface coated, equipped with clean keels and seals.
III. Top / Ceiling material
Purification blind plate: cold-rolled steel spray-painted, aluminum plate, color steel plate, requires sealing, no dust production, load-bearing FFU.
FFU installation: The frame needs to be able to bear the weight of the FFU (about 30–50kg / unit), prefer stainless steel or thickened aluminum profiles.

V. Selection of Core Principles
Priority of cleanliness: ISO 5–6 level / medicine / GMP → stainless steel + tempered glass / color steel plate; ISO 7–8 level / electronics → aluminum alloy + PVC curtain / acrylic.
Environmental adaptation: humid / acidic → 304/316 stainless steel must be selected; dry / general → aluminum alloy.
Load-bearing and equipment: multiple FFU / heavy equipment → stainless steel or thickened iron square tubes; light weight → aluminum alloy.
Cost and cycle: tight budget, short term → spray-painted iron square tubes; long term, high requirements → stainless steel; flexible / movable → aluminum alloy.
Anti-static: for electronics / semiconductor scenarios, both the frame and enclosure need to be treated for anti-static.
